Home page problem

Apr 24, 2007 12:29AM PDT

Hi,
My wifes computer is networked to mine using a crossover cable, both seem to be working fine. My wifes computer updates AVG with no problem but when she tries to use the internet, it is a different thing. The home page keeps coming up as the following and I cannot get it to change. I have tried typing in MSN as the home page but it just reverts to the one below. How can I change the home page to one that will work?
We both run WIN XP Pro. We are on broadband.

Please help

to give us information.

What browser are you using?

Did you try a different browser?

I use Google for the home page at work.

Home page blues

Hi,
Fixed it myself and have no problems now.
Would just like to say that I posted a reply last night which has not appeared on the forum. I previewed it and it was there and then posted it. This morning it seems to have gone. This is the second time this has happened to one of my replies. Is there some problem at your end.

Yes, intermittent problems

At the moment we are getting some CNET 404 "Page not found" pages, but, like all engineers love so much, it is "intermittent". Meaning it never happens when they investigate.

I'm not sure why your page disappeared after posting though. That's a new problem as far as I know.

If it happens again, let Lee know in the Forums Feedback forum.

I'm glad you got your home page problem sorted. What did you have to do to resolve it?

This is where I eat a bit of this. I tried to start the internet and got the usual site and the not found page. Typed in the address I wanted and it went straight there. Went along to home page icon clicked and got the do you want to keep this as your home page and it was fixed. Stupid Eh!!!
I had been attempting to change the home page through control panel, but this is obviously the wrong way. It may help other idiots like me in the future though if they see this posting.
