Find out which distribution of Linux is on it. Go to that forum. Ask in the general or server section your question.
I was given a Desktop PC from a friend. It has both Windows XP and Linux. I'd like to use the PC as a Proxy server and as an intrusion detection system. My broadband at home is from AT&T Uverse. So the router actually acts like a proxy right now. I believe there's a setting to specify a certain computer on the network as a proxy server.
My question is this: Is anyone currently running a PC as a proxy server at home? If so how did you configure it?
Also, is anyone using Snort as an Intrusion Detection System, and what issues did you run into setting it up to sniff ALL network traffic?
