Is to see if the other jack works. I don't know how your home is wired but sometimes the jack is good to go, other times not.
My internet provider set up the wiring so that only one wall coax jack works to wire in the modem/router. What I would like to do is move the access to a different wall coax jack so I can set up my modem in a different room.
