Home Entertainment Center Advice

I have a Playstation 3, Speakers, an AV receiver (Sony STR-DG720), and a projector (Moviemate 72) (No computer).

I don't want to invest more than $2,000. I hate wires/cables and would appreciate any advice on how to eliminate them.

I am currently thinking of installing ubuntu on my playstation 3. I'm also thinking about getting cable service. My idea would be to connect the ps3 and the cable box inputs to the receiver and have audio output to the speakers and video output to the projector. Then I would get a wireless keyboard/mousepad to control the ps3.

This would accomplish my goals of:
viewing live hdtv
viewing internet tv (youtube) through firefox on Ubuntu (hd possible)
viewing Netflix (as netflix has agreed to stream through ps3)
listening to internet radio through firefox on Ubuntu
listening to my mp3 files and viewing photos that I will store on ps3
Also I will be able to use ps3 like a computer to produce office docs

Does anyone see any improvements/limitations to this setup? Can I eliminate some of the wires? Is there anything that I can buy at my price range that would dramatically improve performance/capabilities?
