Home Automation question: Vera, Motorola, Logitech or other?

by shmody / April 20, 2009 10:53 PM PDT

Home automation q: Vera, Motorola Homesight, Logitech WiLife or other for security?

I posted this in the Networking & Wireless forums, not knowing about this one...

I'm interested in setting up a basic, expandable security system at home and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations.

Right now, I see this Z-Wave may be the best way to go and that Vera would be ideal, and although it seem capable, it's not really focused on security.

Any thoughts?

Any thoughts on Insteon would also be helpful...

Selecting a technology

My vote goes to Insteon since it's cheaper and there are more devices available than the other platforms - We've used it in our house for over a year now and it's been rock solid. I found a review that I bookmarked when I was looking at this stuff, it compares Insteon to Z-Wave and X10, pretty interesting:

Good luck with your implementation, let us know what you decide!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
