HL56A650 humming

Jan 4, 2009 5:32AM PST

Samsung Tech,
My Samsung HL56A650 has been humming intermittently since Day 1. Samsung sent a tech to take a look at it, and he replaced the color wheel and power supply. The problem still exists. When I turn the power off, the blue light on the front of the set fades to black, and then the screen shuts off - and the noise stops.

Chris

ps My setup from Day 1 was just the TV and a cable box connected by HDMI. I have since added a receiver and Blu-ray player.

Service....

What did the original service technician say it was?

If the problem isn't fixed, I'd schedule another service call until it goes away. I'm not sure based on your description what was causing it, where it was coming from or what the diagnosis was from the first visit. But if it isn't fixed to your satisfaction, I would ask for a repeat visit.

Service

When the original service technician arrived, the TV wasn't making the noise, so he tried to duplicate the sound as described. When that did not work, he decided to replace the color wheel and the power supply. As it was described to me, those were the two items in the TV that had historically created that sound.
The sound comes from the back of the TV. We are going to schedule a repeat visit but we were hoping that you might have an easy fix that we could try.

Thanks,
Chris

cziesig,

I wish I had a silver bullet answer; but I don't.

Keep me posted.
