HL50A650 with a computer

Mar 24, 2009 7:02AM PDT

I have built a Windows XP Media center to hook to my 50" Samsung (HL50A650). However when I attempt to set the resolution to 1920X1080 on the computer the TV shows no pictures and says, "Mode Not Supported." If anyone could give me some advice on how to make this resolution work or a better resolution to run at it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

ToeFurB,

The best thing I can suggest is to check the drivers. There are also some other posts here dealing with computer issues that one member has been nice enough to post a link helping troubleshoot.

Keep me posted.

How do you have it connected . . .
Apr 4, 2009 2:10AM PDT

I have the HL50A650 connected to my Mac with a DVI to HDMI cable and the picture is amazing. I had no driver issues, but have read that you need to have the right connection for it all to work properly. AND I used a 35' very inexpensive cable and all is amazing.

In the manual it talks of how you need to do this, and I am going to get a DVI to VGA with audio piggyback cable just in case I need the HDMI port. But that may be a while. But all indicators are, if you use the right connection (cabling) the two pieces of gear should sync up nicely. The only time, even on a Mac, have I had this type of a problem, is when I used the wrong kind of video cabling.

The one thing I have noticed though, is that the overscan is huge and there is no way to tune it down. It's either way over, or way under. At least that I have found a way just yet.

sohchouhan,

Well, except that the TFT (the television) doesn't come with a driver.

Your best bet is to make sure that your drivers are up to date. From there you should be able to get the picture. If you can, turn down (or disable) the overscan setting on your video card.
