oatesy27,
I'm sorry to hear that your television's repair isn't feasable.
If you're looking to replace it, since DLP isn't as prominently offered as it was back in 2005, the next biggest bang for the buck is plasmas, say most consumers. I don't have any price ranges specifically for that, but in most cases, you can get more screen for less money with plasma over LCD.
I hope that at least points you in the right direction.

My 2005 Samsung DLP, which I purchased from Tweeter, no longer recognizes any inputs. I had to pay a tech $150 to come to my house to tell me that the main board was fried and replacing it would cost $700 plus I would probably need a new bulb soon. So, I have two questions:
1) Has this happened to anyone else?
2) Instead of fixing the tv, I'm looking to replace it. Having paid $4,100 for this tv, I'm just not interested in spending an insane amount of money on the replacement, but I still need size (55"+). Any recommedations on what could work for under $2,000?
Thank you,
Jake Oates
