Same issue.

Our Hitachi has just done the same thing. Works perfect when not connected to WiFi. When connected to WiFi a globe with an arrow appear in the top left of the screen and the tv begins turning off and on and no buttons work on my remote. I've tried retuning the tv resetting my router so am out of ideas. Any help would be great x

Defective it seems.

Check the web page for your model for new firmware. If none, make the call for repair/service. If they can't fix it, get a refund. No reason to keep defective models.

Answer
Internet source is the problem
Aug 20, 2018 1:49AM PDT

Hi,
I've observed that TV restarts only if I connect it to my huawei router, if I connect it to another router via LAN or wifi or to phone hotspot, it works as expected.
Probably there are some settings on huawei router that some how conflict with TV.

"Wake on" setting for TV
Sep 16, 2018 11:17AM PDT

So after almost considering throwing my TV out the window (after already returning a different model for what I now understand is the same issue), for my HITACHI, I disabled the Wake On function in the menu screen from where you would set up your WiFi.

TV doesn't reboot anymore, which is a relief.

I am using a Huawei router and, at this point, I'm still not sure what the issue is, but I've read numerous threads on the same subject.

TV was working on a mobile hotspot connection. The problem was when I was connecting to my apartment WiFi.

Just tested with a Netgear wireless extender connected to my WiFi and if you choose the extended network on the tv it works perfectly.

Another with the same problem
Mar 15, 2019 9:16AM PDT

The same problem started with both my smart TV’s , one Hitachi the other JVC , but maybe they have the same chassis. Neither has been a problem and they both started power cycling at the same time. They are in different rooms but the same Wireless network. Without connectivity to the internet they work fine. As soon as you connect to the internet , actions and selections slow down or hang and then they start recycling. As soon as the internet connectivity is removed they work correctly.

Same problem here

Exactly the same problem started here yesterday.
Restarts when internet is connected, but only when of the digital tv channel.
I can use the usb inputs and hdmi, but as soon as it connects to my router it restarts. Have the tv for just over 2 years

Check if there is a firmware update.

If not then consider turning it into a TV. For the smart part look at a Roku or Amazon Fire TV stick or box.

(English translate by Google) "If I disable the wake on function and put it on wake off, will my net?"

Answer: Test it out. You can find out faster than anyone here can answer. Also you can always undo this setting.

My hitachi TV has just started doing this yesterday as well, about 18 months old. Could possibly be a problem with a new update? If so hopefully they'll be able to get it sorted with a new update. Tv works fine with no Internet but resets when trying to connect, will have to use fire stick for smart features for now.

Update
Mar 15, 2019 1:54PM PDT

I'd checked to see if there'd been an update on the software but it's dated 28th Feb 2018 and there are no new update available. Strange that multiple people are having this issue at the same time.

Solved for me - I hope!

The same problem started for me yesterday. I'm using an Hitachi Smart TV connected by WiFi to a Vodafone router. After a lot of fiddling I found that by disabling the firewall on the router, the problem went away. What's more, after switching the TV power on and off a couple of times to make sure all was well, I re-enabled the firewall and everything still appears to be working fine

Resolved by argos for me

It's a problem with software. Will need a fix from hitachi. If you disconnect from the Internet in the settings the TV will work fine. Loads of hitachi tv's having the same issue yesterday.
