The good thing is that you can still watch your tv even though the method of turning it off is not to your liking. My guess is that it will eventually goes bad and I think it will be your pwer supply system.
You might try cleaning it be blowing it clean (inside) with a vacuum cleaner.
I have used this TV for 2 years with no problems... until last week. In the past, when I turned the TV off, the red power light also went off. But now, when I try to turn it off (via the power button on the Remote or Main Unit), the red light stays on and the TV appears to be in a stand-by mode. The light does not go off unless I pull out the plug. Also when I try to turn the TV on now, it takes about 7 or 8 seconds until I get audio/video. Nothing besides a co-ax cable is connected to the TV and I have run out of troubleshoot options. I have called a few Servicers to discuss and I have received very contradictory info ranging from a) don't worry about it, to b)it's probably a bad power supply, to c) sounds like a big $ problem. Tonight, Circuit City suggested I post a message here to see if anyone has any ideas on a solution. Thanks to anyone that can help,
