Hitachi 55HDS69- anyone have one? Any info?

by europa105 / January 30, 2007 8:58 AM PST

I was just reading online about the Hitachi 55HDS69, and I've come away impressed. Does anyone have one, or have any information about this set?

This might help...

I have its kid brother (or sister) 42HDS69 and it's simply awesome! I've seen the 55" at the store and it's the same. My 42" gives a superb picture especially on digital DVDs (new Star Wars trilogy)or high quality film movies (last 4 Star Trek movies). I now find myself sitting 3 to 4 feet in front of it so that I can see all the details on digital movies especially, as opposed to 18' with the old 36" tube. Satellite TV is excellent also, and I'm not even talking of HD sources yet! We got a new Yamaha DVD surround sound system a few months ago, so I'm not about to upgrade that yet. But considering the very high picture quality, I'm in no rush. If you can afford it, then get it. I passed it up due to the $$$.

I have recently seen that the 55" 62 series was the only tv named in a retrospective 2006 top ten product list of an av magazine. The review was unfortunately very terse, but mentioned that its strong point was in displaying 1080i. I believe that the stand is not included in the price. I have heard some say that the picture is more subdued than panasonic, not necessarily a bad thing, more personal taste perhaps. An AVS official link, presently with 1402 posts and 118,922 views:

Correct...

Jostenmeat is correct about the stand. This TV doesn't include a stand. There are 2 made for it by Hitachi. One is a gorgeous black floor stand which will also accommodate the components, DVD, Satellite receiver, etc... It matches the styling of the TV. The other one is a powered table top stand which is motorized to allow the TV to pivot for a change in viewing angle.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
