History Channel running "The States" this afternoon.

LINK ... sorry but their website is not fully functional yet.

Each hour covers 5 states and it's been pretty interesting for general facts and some little known details as well.

One thing that caught my interest was that New Mexico with a population of 1.9 million has the greatest number of PHD's per capita of any other state in the union.
