Question

Hisense TV Lipsync issues with Vizio Sound Bar

Mar 5, 2018 5:30AM PST

Last August I purchased a Hisense 55" 4k TV and hooked it up via Optical connection to a Vizio sound bar. Everything worked great for four months. Then it developed a serious lipsync issue. I spoke with VIzio and they said there are no adjustments in their product. A factory reset did nothing. The lipsync on the TV speakers is perfect. Ironically, lip sync is good through the sound bar ONLY when watching Amazon or Netflix. Hisense sent out a tech who pretty much replaced the guts of the set and it worked for one day. Every time I turn on the TV or switch to it from an app I have to do the following from the Hisense remote: Hit HOME, SETTINGS, SOUND, RESET DEFAULT AUDIO SETTINGS, ADVANCED AUDIO SETTINGS. TURN OFF TV SPEAKERS. Only after doing all that can I get TV in lipsync with my Sound Bar. Every time I turn on the TV I have to jump through these hoops. I've done two factory resets on the TV with no improvement. Does anyone have a solution?

Answer
Two ideas.

1. Use an analog output from the TV. A recurring request to members is to supply all product part numbers or links so members and others can look to see what can be done with what you have.

2. Get a Logitech Harmony to automate the jumping of hoops.

Sorry but my longer reply got eaten so I shortened my answer. Please don't be offended by the brevity.

Trying your suggestion

Thanks for the prompt response! The Hisense TV is Model 55DU6070 and the Vizio sound bar is SB3621n-E8M.

I removed the digital optical cable and connected a digital coaxial cable. That resulted in no sound to the sound bar. I did a factory reset on the sound bar and it kept cycling, unable to find the signal. I used the sound bar's remote to try every setting: Optical, Digital, Aux, etc but no sound. I then hooked up headphones to the TV jack and the sound went through fine. I reconnected the sound bar using the digital optical cable and got good sound but with the lipsync issue. I'm ready to tear out what little hair I have left.

Use that TV jack for the link to the sound bar.

One more thought

I then took an old pair of PC speakers and plugged them into the TV's headphone jack. The sound through the cheap speakers is in perfect lipsync.

I just can't figure out why the digital cable connection from the TV headphones jack to the sound bar produces no sound.

why the digital cable connection from the TV headphones jack

why the digital cable connection from the TV headphones jack to the sound bar produces no sound.

Answer: Because digital is digital and the TV headphone jack is analog.

Got it working. Sort of....

On the Vizio Sound Bar I found a jack marked AUX. I plugged an RCA cable into it and to the headphones jack of the TV. I have to turn the sound way up and although it doesn't sound as good as the optical connection at least it's in lipsync.

So I have sort of a solution. I'd really like to make full use of the sound bar and there doesn't seem to be a digital coax output on the TV.

Any updates since your post?

I've been dealing with the exact same setup for months at my girlfriends place and getting sick of it. Did you figure anything else out since you've posted about it?

Identical issues

I'm having the same problem. It worked perfectly for months and now it's a constant battle of going up and down with the delay in audio settings. I've defaulted the sound bad, tried different settings. It was perfect!

I noticed a TV update around the time it started. I swear it's a TV update that broke it.

Lipsync Hisense tv and Vizio soundbar
Sep 26, 2018 6:45PM PDT

Have you solved this problem..
I have a brand new 65 inch 4K tv and a Vizio soundbar. There has been a lip sync problem from day one..there is an adjustment on the remote for delay but I have to do it every time I change the show on Netflix.
I added the optical cable and it eliminated the problem
The Vizio guy said the issue is with the Hisense tv and not the soundbar.
I just unplugged the tv and reset the Arc and it is working for now.

One more try

I went to BestBuy and talked to a tech who recommended a better quality optical cable. It seemed to work for a few days but now it's back to the same issues. Like others, I can go into the TV's menu and adjust the digital output or the lipsync but it's a band-aid cure, rarely precise, and a pain to do every time I turn on the TV. The issue is with Hisense.

Frankly, Hisense not worth the $

Exchange it for a model with at least *some* degree of post-sales support, such as LG, Samsung or Sony.
YMMV

65 inch Hisense Vizio sb 3651-e6
Tried everything
Reset everything
Was almost going to put it in the box and I found a review that said to change the audio output..I changed it to PCM and with the optical wire and bam it seems to be working..for now
Did U fix the problem
I don’t even know what PCM is but the lip sync issue seems gone

Throw PCM...

...into google Happy

Having the option to switch to PCM can be a lifesaver(!)

Not really.

Sound bars don't have 5.1 sound. Where are the 5 speakers and the sub?

Mine does
The tv is detecting it and the sound is dramatically better . I have a sub and two surround speakers.

Then you have a warranty claim.

Make the call and see if they have a fix. I usually find the makers bail and the only fix is to return non-working products.

Remember, it is never a surprise when ARC fails. It's in the bucket of industry problems and widely complained about.

Hisense tried to fix it
Oct 10, 2018 4:34AM PDT

Hisense sent out two techs and they replaced a couple of large modules on the TV. The sound worked for one day. Every time I turn on the TV now I have to reset sound to Factory settings, turn off TV sound, and then bump the Digital Audio Delay 1 time.

Hisense and Vizio

I tried one thing ..I turned off the surround sound in the tv speakers ...not sure if that did anything but it seems better but I have to hit the delay button even if it’s at zero once or twice and it seemed to sync for the whole show. Hisense can’t help..I don’t think the tech supports knows..Vizio won’t help either..I did notice one thing tho..everyone’s tv is set to pcm ..does no one use Dolby ??!

It’s very frustrating
Do you think it’s a tv problem?

No, you do not have true 5.1 surround

That requires different gear, amigo.
