The other tools are Cwshredder and running the updates to Adaware and Spybot. You may have locked the home page so that's why its not healing.
After all that, you use HOUSECALL to be sure a bug hasn't crept in.

Windows 98SE. Internet Explorer 5.5--Last few days, when trying to go to any website, another website pops up unbidden, opening in a new window. Try to close it, and you get another. Have tried the following: "Repairing" Internet explorer, running Spybot and Ad-aware. I have AVG virus protection and update it every week. Ran a test today, no viruses. The first time these unbidden pages started to appear, AVG sounded an alarm saying it could be an infected "start page". I selected "heal" and denied access, but nothing showed up in the virus vault. Sometimes the extra pages don't appear right away, but the web page that I am trying to get to loads once then refreshes itself. What's going on?
