high speed modem drops out when visiting ebay

Athlon 2100 processor, 512 mb ram, windows 2000 (up to date), kerio firewall and AVG 7.0 updated weekly. The high speed modum (motorola sb5100) drops out and I have to reboot. This only happens on ebay. I have cleared cache, cookies, searched for adware and spyware, contacted motorola and ebay - they tried to help but to no avail. I have tried IE 6, Netscape, and Mozilla Firefox browsers - again no help. I can learn to live without ebay, but would like to be able to visit if I want to. I had not visited for a long time and the modem is two or three months old but like I said before this only happes at ebay. Thanks in advance...

Is this a PCI MODEM? You didn't say.

If so, ask for, beg, steal an external hardware modem.
