High Pitched Sound Emitting From Dell E1505

I just received my E1505 3 days ago and after the set up, it was producing a "high pitched" sound constantly from the hard drive. I called support immediately and after 1 hour on the phone, it was decided that the hard drive needed to be replaced. Received the new hard drive and replaced it, but still emitting high pitch sound. Spent another hour with support and again, it was determined that the hard drive be replaced again.

Anyone has the same experience? Should I just returned the laptop within the 21 day period if the third hard drive still emits the same high pitched sound? Thanks!!

This is the spec:

Inspiron E1505 Intel

Seem to be a condensator

It seems that the sound is from a condensator on the motherboard.

I noticed it also. But I can live with it.

But I will call Dell because my case is uncoloring at the place of my hand. I will describe to the tech the problem.

you didn't give enough info-- is it from the hard drive, or out of the speakers, is it constant or just when hd is spinning?

i had a similar problem with an hp laptop-- whicne from speakers, but only when cooling fan was on. they replaced the heatsink fan and it went away.

but if there's a bad batch of drives they would all do it i spose!

High Pitched Static Sound

In reply to: well

Static sound is coming from where HD is located. So far the HD has been replaced twice but still the same. Laptop has been sent back for ''repairs''. High pitched sound happens once the laptop is turned on. Disappears when 2005 MCE is used and when AC chord is removed.

A friend said he could barely hear it. Might cos' of the different tolerence of the pitch frequency.
