"High contrast" parameter

Jul 7, 2009 4:37AM PDT

Hi all!!

I've seen that Samsung no longer publishes its new TVs contrast ratio -static or dynamic-. Instead, a brief "high contrast" description is provided. I have unsuccessfully tried to find this parameter (on the website, handbooks) on any of the new models.

Does this mean that all Samsung TVs use the same panel and same processor for dynamic contrast. How "high" is this "high contrast"?

I believe that one of the reasons behind this could be that, nowadays, some manufacturers "squeeze" the dynamic contrast too much, distorting the image and making the value comparison useless. Is this intuition right? Is there any place where we could find Samsung's contrast figures?

Thanks in advance!!!!!

enriquevagu,

The www.samsung.com site posts all of the dynamic contrast ratio postings. Go to the product you're looking at, click on the specification tab, and then click on Full Specification.

Contrast parameter not in Europe sites

Hi!

Thank you for your quick aswer! I have checked that the US website does provide such information; however, I am European (sorry I didn't comment it), and EU websites prvide the "high contrast" value I commented before (some examples below).

To be able to use the data in the US site, are the models with similar labeling providing the same specs? For example, the US site details the LN32B460 ('N' from North Ameria, Series 4, '60'?) while in Europe you offer the LE32B450 ('E' for Europe, Series 4, '50'?). Are they the same model with minor differences? (Obvliously, apart from the plug, voltage, screen refresh, etc, that are different on each continent).

Thank you very much!!!! Happy

enriquevagu,

Gotcha. Hmmmm... interesting.

I can't speak for Samsung Europe's marketing, but what I can say is that these are likely "sister" models, and could probably be compared with the US specs in approximates. So the answer to your question is: Yes, I think so, but I have no way of positively confirming that.

I'll check with the web team and see if I can get the specs put up there. I never noticed. But I'd like to deliver that information, and I'll see what I can do.

I am also looking forward to more information regarding this, as it seems some models on the market in Europe don't have an equivalent in the US. I'm for instance interested in the model LE26B455, but on the US website the closest model I find is the LN26B460.

Looking forward to more info on the topic.

Hi!

Sorry to return to this old post, but I cannot find any further information or any forum for the EU sites. Is there any clear way to compare the specs given for a US model and a EU model?

Thanks,

Enriquevagu

enriquevagu,

I don't have any way of confirming outside of U.S. specifications, unfortunately.
