Hide the email notfcation icon when rule set to auto delete?

We just upgraded Office 2000 to Office 2007 in work and I have a question about a setting in Outlook 2007...
I have many rules set to "auto delete" an email based on content, but I do not want to receive the email notification in the systray when this occurs. How do I do this? We are running Win XP Pro on Dell Dimension desktops (all updates & service packs to Win XP Pro & Office 2007 are installed). Help please...

MS never offered a fix for that in OL2000 to OL2003. Call and ask if they fixed it in 2007. For what its worth you also need to empty the Deleted Items Folder...

My deleted items do not go to my 'Deleted Items' Folder

My deleted items do not go to my 'Deleted Items' Folder, they are "permanently deleted" from my Mailbox in Outlook 2007. I could see the icon notification still showing in my systray if the emails were still sitting in my 'Deleted Items' Folder, but they're not...they're removed entirely and I never see them when they're deleted.

- Option to treat deleting mail the same as Exchange server (ie, mark it read, move it to deleted items folder), as opposed to just "marking for delete". Even Windows Mail does this. This is my current dealbreaker for using IMAP with Outlook."

So mark it read before delete?
