Please explain what you do to 'hide' a file in Favorites, and to 'hide' a file in My Documents. And how you (want to) make them visible again. Then somebody might be able to explain what happens and suggest a way of doing it rightly.

You can hide files and folders by clicking Start, Control Panel, Folder option, then View and click on show hidden or do not show hidden files. If you have a file that you would like hidden, right click on it, click properties then click the "hidden" box. This folder will then be hidden. You can get it back by going through the same routine in control panel then clicking show hidden files and folders. My propblem is, if I try to hide a folder of "Favorites" eg. web sites, I can't get them back. Any ideas? Thanks.

In Win98, I have set the option to Show all Hidden Files and Folders. If I use your Right Click -> Properties, .... the file or folder DOES NOT disappear, it simply takes on a lighter shade.

In your case,

a) choose "show all hid.. F & F.." in Explorer, apply.

b) Undo the Hidden attribute of the My Fav. folder.

c) Undo (a)

Hope this helps.

I am running XP. If you right click a folder and click on hidden it will just grey out. It will only disappear if you go through the control panel and click on don't show hidden folders. If you then click on show hidden folders they will return, but greyed out. You can still acces them but to get them back fully you have to right click on them and unclick hidden. This works perfectley well in My Documents, but not in IE. However, If you know the name of the folder you can press CTRL O , type in the folder name, and you will get the contents of that folder as web pages. This is not ideal, but if anyone has the answer to this problem I would be grateful. Thank you.
