General discussion

Hi Steve

Mar 7, 2004 10:55AM PST

I did not want to reply on Evie's discussion again. Shes very good at giving out tonge lashings and did not want to get in her line of fire.

Yep, it sure is exciting (American Politics) Its really good to have input from another country, especially the UK.

I'm from Massachusetts. down South they call me a damn yankee. The natives up country in the Northeast Kingdom of VT call me a Flatlander. Down East in Maine I'm known as a %#$*@

I am a Newbie on this Forum and really enjoy it. The Forum may call me something else, but they are the nicest bunch of Folks I have ever had the pleasure of conversing with.

Have a Good day or Night over there in the UK Steve

If you don't mind, could you please drop me a line at the address below? I need to ask you a question "off the board" and don't have your e-mail address.

Hi Glenda

That was not an insult. Steve and I were posting on Evies Post "Bush beat Kerry in CA" In answer to Steves question that he had asked me, I decided to get off it and answer his question elsewhere. Bad mistake I guess.

Go read Evies Post "Bush beat Kerry in CA"

I did read the other thread and Evie said nothing about anyone getting off topic! We all do the same in threads! Steve did apologize for it, But again Evie had said nothing! The insult is you saying "You didn't want a tongue lashing from Evie, as she is quite good at them!" That was insulting! and she has NEVER done any of that to you, now has she?? Disgusted!

Please, stop for just a moment and relook at this. I truly don't believe George meant any insult or harm with his original post. Granted, he could probably have utilized different wording... Happy ... but He has already stated in posts further down that he was sorry if he caused harm.

This "new technology" of communication through the Internet is wonderful! But, however, we lose the nuances available through the spoken word and the ability to see the other persons face. We can easily jump the gun in regard to meaning because of that.

Just wanting to divert a "mess"........... Happy

Actually, I've now forgotten what I wanted it for -- I didn't want to ask in the thread where I wished I had it, to avoid just this sort of speculation!

Hi George,
Sorry about the delay coming back to you, I was taking a nap. I don't think Evie would have minded too much, but we would have placed possibly a large number of posts which had no bearing on the main subject.
I met someone with the surname Sparks who came from your state, and I guess she would be about 50 years old now. She was over here on holiday. Lovely girl and a shame we had to part company.
Gives me an idea, use one of the finder services and see what happened to her.
I know what you mean, all a great bunch on here, come what may of their political leaning. Shame things get a little heated at times, but that can be expected when discussing problems close to peoples' hearts.
Guess you may have popped off for a nap yourself but will look out for a reply later.
Thanks George.

Hi Evie

If you felt that my remark was a bashing, I humbly apologize. I actually meant it as a compliment in a humorous way. I guess many members here did not see it as such. I suppose many of my posts are not looked upon as humor by the serious group and consider it a funny way of putting it. Sorry, that some do not understand me, but many of you I do not understand either.

like your 'yank' since of humor.

Sending a email to Dave at semods4@yahoo also gives your email address to all the SE Mods which should be no harm in that, they can now easily email you. Can't imagine what question Dave would ask you that couldn't be asked in the forum, except to get your email address to chech you out. Then again he may be asking you if you are Tim posting, which I am of the opinion that you are not.

Have a good day and keep on posting. Wife and I are now off to go fishing as it will be 77 degrees F today.

Re: Requesting e-mail addresses...
Mar 8, 2004 4:24AM PST

Hi, George.

The Moderators don't have access to your registration information. We've asked all regulars to voluntarily provide us with their addresses so that if there ever is a problem, we can carry on a discourse "behind the scenes," rather than in the open on the board where it can be both embarrassing and disruptive. I now remember further -- your post simply reminded me that your were in fact relatively new, so I checked and we don't have you address in our communal Moderator's address book. There really wasn't any more to it than that. And we do keep the addresses confidential, to the extend that if there's a two-way insult battle going on and we delete messages from both, we send the notice of deletion to our own communal mailbox with bcc: copies to the individual members, to preserve the privacy of their e-mail addresses from one another. This was all explained back when this forum began, here (Please pardon the now-invalid HTML coding!)
