Hi, I want to install Windows 7 on my notebook (because Win 8 is ******* bugged ****), but when I run install from Windows 8 (yes, from iso file, because when I boot it from my USB, it can't search any HDD) I can't see my SSD there. I haven't Win 8 installed on SSD, because I couldn't make it work. Now, I want to use SSD which I have in notebook, but I can't - I tried to update firmware, but it say just "No matched drivers detected". Can somebody help me ?

You'll like it that way. Almost everyone does.

That's not a supported way of installing Windows 7 by running the setup from the ISO in Windows 8.
So back to booting from USB or DVD. DVD should work, if there are no hardware issues.

But if the notebook came with Windows 8, why not use the recovery media? Those should work. It's a pity you didn't explain why you couldn't get it working. Or just cone the working Windows 8 from the hdd it's on now to the SSD.

I hate Windows 8, it's bugging my Alienware 17 notebook. I try to install it from DVD

All good here.

I can't guess what issues you are having. And installing Windows 7 is so well done in Dell's own forums, what more can be added except folk are surprised how hard it is. Many steps, drivers and apps must be installed per Dell's instructions.

Ou, can you send me a link ? I really need Windows 7.

btw. I tried to install from CD, it doesn't help. Same problem - "no drivers found" in HDD select step.

http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/ for example.

There are thousands of posts about installing Windows so I can't guess why you are having troubles. It's a shame you didn't stick with the supplied OS as there's a dozen or more things to do to install Windows. Well, that's not quite true. Windows is easy to install, boot the DVD (7 does not fit on CD) and it's what we need to do prior to and after that is hard. It's often specific to the model so there are rarely step by steps. Only guides.

Maybe you should just go to Windows 10?

You didn't tell much, but I see 2 options here:
1. The laptop came with Windows 8, but it doens't function correctly. Then it's a warranty issue.
2. The laptop came with Windows 7, you installed Windowns 8 yourself, but not fully correct, so it's buggy. Then eitther fix that or go back to the recovery media you made (or can order with Dell).

For all I read, "driver not found" means that it isn't on the DVD. Maybe Dell has one for you, maybe they don't. Then waht you're trying to do might be a dead end (apart from the recovery disks, of course).

before the attempt

before you even try, you better make sure there are drivers for your notebook at the manufacturers website. if not, there may not be drivers available for all features and you will have more issues than you had in win8
