My computer is too far away from my turntable and amplifier to allow a direct connect. Because I intended to do some live audio recording as well, I bought a Sony mini disc recorder. The mini disc holds 1 Gb. I record real time and uncompressed onto the mini disc (the recorder allows the insertion of track marks), then transfer to my computer and burn cds. I've had excellent luck allowing the mini disc recorder to set record levels - it does not boost volume (I record a lot of classical music) and so far it has not clipped anything. The volumes are a little lower than the volumes on commercial cds, but that's not a problem for me. I do not convert to MP3s because I want as much fidelity as I can get. On the other hand, I have not edited for pops, snaps, or scratches. Lack of time, more than lack of software (I could download freeware).
Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly
Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
