General discussion

Hi Def v. 3CCD

Apr 5, 2006 3:48AM PDT

Is HD going to eclipse 3CCD any time soon? Would I be better served with one or the other? I want fairly high quality footage in the event I get lucky and capture something worth broadcasting or saving to DVD.

HD camcorders could have 3CCD so your statement is a little off. 3CCD is where the colors are split off to their own CCD sensors. The sensors could be a standard definition or HD.

One doesn't exclude the other.

Thanks! Your info is greatly appreciated... I had no idea that HD and 3CCD were not mutually exclusive.
So how long before HD is the main game in town? Or will it be?
Thanks!

It depends on the game in play. Indie folk will want the HD with everything. Taping your 2 YO's birthday party may be fine with anything.

There may be some HD cameras which are not 3CCD (I have

not checked), but the serious HD cameras are 3CCD. You would have to move down the the consumer level Sony's before this changes.
