Blu-ray is not.
Personally though, it's not the format that keeps me away but the price (hardware and softwares). I can always buy 2 or 3 dvd plays for the future to play old dvds (they are certainly inexpensive enough right now). So compatibility is not my problem..just my thought on it.
The only way the public will accept this new format, is the disk will have to have hi-def on one side and be able to play standard d.v.d. on the other So if you go rent or buy a d.v.d movie it will be compatable Also I dont care about burning movies etc. that just makes it more complex, + you can buy d.v.d. movies for as little as $5.00 .Also I dont understand why you folks want to hook up your computors, phones I pods and all the other junk to your home theater systems keep them in your bedroom, I know when I watch my home theater I even turn off the phone good luck to you all stewart norrie cadillacstew@aol.com
