Just like in XP, the error should be in the event viewer.

Just like in XP, the error should be logged in the same place.

Let's try again

I read on another forum about your problem, and tried to reply but it kept freezing on me, so lets try again. Fortunately for us customers, we can do the full install off an upgrade disc as long as we dont enter the registration code. So you were definately on the right track, but when you try to do the upgrade with the registration code in hand, it screws up once again! However, the workaround is that after your clean install and your second installation to do the upgrade begins, instead of clicking on the UPGRADE selection, click on the CUSTOM installation option, and for some reason, even tho you have entered the registration code, as long as you have already done the clean install, it will perform a second complete install, and your windows vista will be registered

hey

i was reading many messages here cnet. after reading about your problem i can tell you only one thing as i have a relative working for microsoft. since there are unknown amount of factors which may cause problems in vista installation. microsoft suggests that you back up your data and do a clean install from the previous O/S. but be sure not install the drivers until the installation is over as it might delay or hang the pc. i guess these problems are occuring because of their new platform.
