Hey, what about Sony's future direction (Today on CNET)

All who are interested should read:
Reader's Choice, most discussed stories, 4. Sony's braved Sir Howard at:

then

about their push towards OLEDs (organic light-emitting diodes)

Hope I got the links right, but in any event they're within today's Today on CNET. The OLEDs might be available in one year. OLEDs are to be microscopically thin, consume less power & are breathtakingly bright & clear.

Sir Howard is proud that Sony LCDs have US#1 share in both $ & units. It's revealing that Sony is a monster that Sir Howard has to evaluate one division hot product, then go throughout corporate for consensus. Not a Microsoft that Bill Gates still can crack the whip, or a GM that's been 30 years trying to evolve to modernity.

He makes an example of their $10 million cost for $4000 theater projectors to save the movie making division $160 million. And proud that by avoiding small LCDs while concentrating on big, their profit margins bettered rather than being captive to price hacking.

Will you early adopters of state of the art technology have buying fever for OLED sets in a couple of years despite getting XBRs or SXRDs recently? Or is early announcement to hold people off while they work on making them cheaply enough, with delays like Toshiba's SED proposition?
