... "office on a cart" I used to have back when teaching online. Ended up getting parked in front of the sofa in the living room much of the time, which didn't thrill the hubby too much! But I liked having the TV on in the background when I was working so that's pretty much where it ended up. Enjoy! Now I'm back to having a laptop. With the wireless I really don't think I'll ever go back!

... but I'm an excellent typist so can adjust. The problem I had with the last laptop (actually I call it more of a mobile desktop -- it was one of the bigger 17" ones) was that the fans were on the bottom -- duh! It kept overheating and eventually burnt out the motherboard
My new laptop seems to have a very efficient cooling system and doesn't even get that hot to begin with. It took a little getting used to the smaller screen (15.4" widescreen), but the image quality is superb. I LOVE having the wireless mobility around the home.

As did the ones I had previously. My current laptop vents out the back not through the bottom. I notice the new Toshibas no longer have this design flaw, but that problem kinda soured me on that brand
For whatever reason, this one doesn't even GET that hot to begin with.

on my 12" iBook. Best accessory purchase to date for the hot running notebook.
Congrats on the new rig Mark.

The idiocy of putting the fans on the BOTTOM of a laptop cannot be put into proper words! Even sitting on a desk the thing would overheat. They've fixed that on the newer ones, but after my experience I won't ever buy a Toshiba again. Even if they are supposed to be good.
No need for any extra cooling with the new laptop.
Never even thought to look at such things when I was buying the thing...you'd think the engineers would have worked that out before it hit the market.
But no, the dang thing overheats just sitting there on a solid surface. The screen, on the other hand, was simply awesome.
I'll not buy Toshiba again.

I didn't ask what the new one ISN'T but was curious what it IS since it seems to be a good laptop that you seem to be happy with.
bought new Dell laptop with a duo core processor a DVD burner and a 17" screen with hyper light or some such. Bought a wireless router for $39 and I am sitting on the back porch with a 54Mbps connection.
life is good.
