Useful step in the right direction, and a must-have-will-get for me. However the Neowin report says it only covers "most", and not "all", which means it remains incomplete and deficient. (Caveat, if visiting the Neowin site, beware it tries to load an ActiveX control from the parasitic TargetNet. Spybot users will get a warning dialog if they are using its immunization options.)
Since Windows Updates ends support for Win98 next month, I strongly advise Win98 users to download the updates from the download centre so they have the complete collection.
If you're one of those recalcitrant Windows users clinging to Windows 98 or Windows ME who still needs all those security updates, take heart. Beta testers of the anticipated Windows Update Security CD have heard that the release candidate of the collection of all the latest and greatest security fixes is due out next week, says WinBeta.com. No word yet on when the final will be ready to go.
