Re; new computer

In reply to: Helping picking a computer please?

That doesn't work for us. You need a newegg account/password (probably even yours) to get into the site.
So better type your configurations in your next post.

- What are you going to use this PC for?
- What OS are you planning to install?

Badly formatted. Duplicate lines.

In reply to: Oops, I'll fix that.

However if you want to game for a budget, NEVER go for glitz and looks.

Your i5 build is very typical as in good to run the current games at 1080p. Except that new one The Witcher 3.

The AMD A10 while OK would have a gamer a little upset if they played on the i5 build.

Nod to the i5 build without glamor cases.

Answer
Why build?

In reply to: Helping picking a computer please?

I've seen so very many posts from folks who've built a computer and are having problems. You can buy a custom built computer from Dell with whatever options you want that comes with a warranty and will likely be cheaper than a do it yourself job. Just my two cents worth.

Collapse -
Way too many.

In reply to: Why build?

Not only do they have that issue but installing Windows is far from easy enough. Wait I take that back. Installing Windows is a snap. Getting your machine features working such as audio, video, wifi and such is the brick wall they slam into.

My advice is to never create a new selection of parts. COPY WHAT OTHERS HAVE DONE. Or just get a prebuilt with say any i5 and upgrade the GPU and PSU if required.

Collapse -
It's not the building part, it's the selection part.

In reply to: Way too many.

I can put a computer together easily, and install Windows just as easily. However I've also built pre-builts to test this, and this is simply cheaper.

Nod to the i5 above.

In reply to: It's not the building part, it's the selection part.

There are a few odd mainboards out there that cough on one or the other GPU but thankfully those are rare.

You have the usual i5+GPU build but my comment is to forget glamor. My favorite old PC had the ugly case. The office suffered a breakin and they only took the shiny pretty ones.

Thanks

In reply to: Nod to the i5 above.

Thanks man! I'll probably send it to my step brother for further reviewing, just to see if he can give me a second opinion. He's giving me a copy of Windows, however I do need to add a (probably external) internet card. But I am probably going to end up buying the i5. This isn't a completely original build, I found it on I think it was Tomshardware. I just tweaked the power supply, and got a keyboard and mouse that was cheap. I'm buying it next Thursday, which is when I cash my paycheck. Means a lot, thanks for responding. Will post another thread on results whenever it's assembled and ready. Thanks again!

+MANY

In reply to: Thanks

Stealing a design from Toms is a great move. The performance will be on par with the GPU reviews.

Wait, just to be sure, you;re being serious, right? That came off as a bit sarcastic and I want to clarify.

No. Here's why.

In reply to: Wait a minute

"Our tests demonstrate fairly little difference between a $225 LGA 1155 Core i5-2500K and a $1000 LGA 2011 Core i7-3960X, even when three-way graphics card configurations are involved. It turns out that memory bandwidth and PCIe throughput don't hold back the performance of existing Sandy Bridge-based machines. "

Sooooo

In reply to: No. Here's why.

So are you saying I need to choose a different build orrr...?

Collapse -
I like the i5 build

In reply to: Sooooo

My comments are that you made a good move to starting with a build that has been done. Then your i5, even that older prior one could drive THREE GPUs means you can expect something close to the frame rates you see in reviews for your chosen GPU.

About as good as it gets for a gamer today.
