Help - Word 2000 Locking Up

Feb 29, 2004 4:51AM PST

When I try to open a second window in Word, running from Works Suite 2001, the whole system locks up, and I get the message "system dangerously low in resources" etc. Ctrl, alt, del sometimes gets me back to the desktop, but other times I have to unplug and start again. I've reinstalled Works & Word 2000SR1, but it all makes no difference. Other people have said this is a typical ME problem!! Anyone got any ideas, or do I reformat & start again, or upgrade to XP??!!

And I thought it was a Word issue. Here's the usual fix.

Reinstalling Word doesn't cure a problem with the NORMAL.DOT file.

Find and rename it to NORMAL.OLD then Word will likely just work.

Bob

Have done what you suggested and it seems to be fine.

Many thanks,
