Help with Uninstall

Jun 18, 2007 9:06AM PDT

I have Windows XP Home Edition = SP2 with 2.66 CPU & 512 memory.
I have copy of a game partially installed and would like to un-install it completely.

I tried everything from "Add/Remove Programs" to the game "Uninstall" folder...Nothing works and it is taking a lot of space on my PC.

Please advise on alternatives to get rid of this gamne altogether off my PC.

Thanks so much for the help.

The hard way.

You didn't say much about the problems, (eg partially installed, why?), but that is probably why the uninstall and Add/Remove programs wouldn't uninstall it.

The only other way is manually. Use Windows Explorer or My Computer to search for the folders and files where it was installed to, typically the games program files in the sub-folder "Program Files/{whatever program folder name it is}", and delete that folder, and possibly your "Documents and Settings" folder for your username and delete the game folder there.

Then you get to hunt down any shortcuts on your desktop and in your Start Menu and delete those.

There may be other files elsewhere in the system, usually in C:\Windows\System32 folder, but you are not likely to be able to find those, so there's no point looking.

Then use a recognised registry cleaner to seek out any orphan registry entries and delete those.

Still having problems...
Jun 18, 2007 9:54AM PDT

I deleted the folder where the game was installed...
Still, I can't remove it from the "Add/Remove Programs".
It is still showing with 1,723 MB.

I only have a copy of the game ...which functions well in my other PC.

On this one, when I start the install, it stops when the DirectX installation pops up..then I have to restart the PC altogether, as the PC stops when DirectX pops up.

Also, when I put in a CD, it does not Autorun like in my other PC.
How do I get this desktop to Auto-run CD-inserted games or apps?

Thanks so much for any and all help you can provide me to solve my issues here!!!!

There are a Couple of Options

Hello,

From what I can gather from your post is that you tried to install the game and decided against it at during the install and only part of the program was installed. If this is the case then some of the files that you need to uninstall the program are missing. You can try a manual uninstall by something you could try that might be a little easier is if you run the program again and install all the way it should add all the missing files and once it is fully installed you should be able to remove to from add/Remove programs.

Hope you get you problem fix!

sorry for the publicity but try "TuneUp utilities 2007"
first do a 1`click maintenence ... fix the problems ... and then go to the Uninstall manager ... from there you can uninstall .. or simply delete what isn`t working anymore (it also shows up what programs don`t work with a "X" )
i wonder if it will help you
