Help with Trojan residing in Windows\System32\kbdjc.dll file

by Arnie88K / June 14, 2004 2:18 PM PDT

Hi,

A family member running Win XP home has ended up with quite a few viruses on her machine. I ran AVG, and it seemed to take care of most of them, but an alert keeps appearing very often regarding a trojan in the Windows\System32\kbdjc.dll file. I believe there may still be other trojans related to that one on her machine like a backdoor startpage BA one, etc, although AVG may have quarantined it. The one that seems to be causing the most trouble is the one the alert says is in the kdbjc.dll file. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks much.

Re: Help with Trojan residing in Windows\System32\kbdjc.dll

go into SAFEMODE - make sure you have NO HIDDEN files\folders and look for the file:

Windows\System32\kbdjc.dll file and DELETE IT !

Then delete the items in your recycle bin.

You also could try The Cleaner Professional 4.1 - is FREE for 30 days:

Hi Marianna,

I'm afraid that when we tried your suggestion, the file still was not to be found. We checked the "Show Hidden Files and Folders" option, and... we also chose the option that would let us see protected system files, but the kbdjc.dll file is somehow remaining invisable. Any additional suggestions? I will take a look at the Cleaner Professional 4.1 software also. Thanks for taking another look into this!

Best regards,

re: Help with Windows\System32\kbdjc.dll trojan - addendum

Hi Marianna,

I forgot to add that it looks like a number of system restore processes were done on this computer. Could the offending file be hidden in one of the system restore points, and that's why we aren't seeing it currently in the System32 folder, even with all hidden files supposedly showing? Thanks again!

Best,

Arnie

Arnie,

clean all your temp., temp. internet files an cookies you don't need. Then empty your recycle bin.

Are there infected files in AVG's vault?? Delete them by rightclicking.

Then flush your restore points - disable sytem restore - scan with AVG - afterwards ENABLE system restore again.

Is your scan now clean ??

Hi Marianna,

Thanks again for the new information. I'll have a chance to try what you recommended this Saturday when I'm at the same location as the infected computer.

I'll let you know if it works. It sounds like a good plan though. Thanks again for doing the helpful good work you do.
