It is reported in the article [Q873161] that after you install Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and you are prompted to restart the computer, the computer starts, but before you can log on, the computer begins to continuously restart. This problem occurs if you had a UMAX scanner driver installed on your computer and the resolution is to start the computer in Safe Mode, remove the UMAX driver, remove Windows XP SP2, and then reinstall Windows XP SP2.
sp2 installed automatically, when it rebooted, I was taken to a page which said "windows did not start correctly, this may be a recent hardware or software installation" then 5 options, start in safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, safe mode with networking, last known good configuration, and start windows normally, no matter which option I choose after the initial startup (windows xp window) then the mouse arrow appears it then reboots and goes back to the 5 options.
Any help will be appreciated, I did contact windows support but they did not have any answers at the moment, I am also a novice at the internal workings.
Thanks in advance
