Help with Sony Vaio OS

by alanmason1001 / June 28, 2006 4:43 PM PDT

So I bought a Sony Vaio (VGNFE660G) with Windows XP Media Center, and I thought I knew how to install XP Pro. I completely deleted the partion with Media Center on it, and installed my XP Pro. Unfortunatley, I was un-aware it was not going to validate (academic version), so now I am stuck. If I buy the recovery disc for my model from Sony's website, will it reinstall Media Center, thus bailing me out.

That's good enough for me. I'd hate to buy XP Pro retail, especially since I now see how much of a pain the drivers for this are going to be. Thanks

I thought the same thing when I bought my new VAIO with MCE installed on it, "I'm going to install XP Pro." But it turned out that MCE is installed over XP Pro with all the functionalities of Pro.
