HELP with slow print processing (even for PDF files)

Jul 28, 2004 2:29PM PDT

My computer (Compaq Deskpro EN P3 500mhz) is having trouble processing files to send to my printer (HP Deskjet 930c), even something as compressed as a PDF file is taking five to ten minutes to get to the printer. And for some reason, I am unable to print Illustrator 8 documents at all.

I requested help with this last week and someone suggested it may have been the result of a parasite. But after removing the parasites from my machine, I am still having trouble.

Any advice?

thanks, Doug

All I can offer is this. Look around for the Printer settings and look for the RAW or EMF checkboxes. Try RAW to save processor work.

If this is something that has only recently begun look for what may have changed.

1. Parasites and malware are always first choice.
2. Did you do any updates, including new printer drivers.
3. If the application doing the printing new (Adobe perhaps?).

4. Do you have sufficient disk space to print spool or have you come close to filling it up? Printing usually need short term temporary disk space. If your C drive is full up if may be spending lots of time swapping between memory and what is available on the disk.
