I finally figured it out.
Thanks anyway though
Hi. I am going to replace the hard drive in my Dell Dimension 4100 (have some info backed up, but am really not worried about that aspect.) I was hoping someone could tell me how to actually physically remove the drive. I have taken out cards in the system before, but never the drive.
I have the cover off and the have disconnected the larger of the two connectors. It seems to be in a one-piece plastic casing that also houses the floppy drive. I cannot seem to get the rest to budge (certainly do not want to break it) and cannot locate any screws that would aid in the process. Any help would, as always, be greatly appreciated.
The only other question I could possibly have is with its replacement. Please let me know if I am correct that I just need a basic ATA drive (I would assume my computer is way too old for SATA, and I really am just going for something inexpensive that works.) I found a couple of good deals at Newegg.
The main brands seem to be Seagate and Western Dig. I know it is normally preference as they appear to both be decent brands, but any advice there?
Thanks in advance!
