Sony seems to know which models play old tapes. Try sony.com then find the local phone number and ask.

We owned a Sony Digital 8 DCR-TR7000 NTC camcorder for years. We recorded many videos from the year 1996- 2003 on it. The camera then broke. We just recently bought a camcorder on ebay. It is a Sony video Hi8 CCD-TRV67 NTSC. We can only view the tapes from 1996- 1999. They all work perfectly. All tapes after that date do not work at all. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated!
