Help with pic size for a total newbie!

hi all:
i've got a samsung 550 and it cuts off the subtitles and words on top and bottom / left of screen. I've tried all the pmode settings and not sure what else to do. i also checked the remote from Comcast and that doesn't seem to have a "zoom" option (saw that suggestion on the board). any other ideas? i really am at a loss here! thanks.

My TV can zoom and my dvd player can also zoom. Assuming there are subtitle, the only thing that may cause the disappearing subtitle would be ZOOM.

thanks to all the posts I waded through and thanks athoi -- it indeed was some obscure not easy to find "zoom" setting on the cable remote. now i'm trying to figure out if "screen fit" or a "16:9" ratio is best with the TV remote. i long for the on and off days , ever so much easier!
