Question

help with password reset/recovery

lForgot my password for windows log on as administrator. i downloaded free p/w recovery and reset from cnet. now i get msg that i cannot download it because im not logged on as administrator (im logged in as guest) what can i do? please help

try safe mode

if you are using xp or vista then try booting from safe mode you can log i without password from safe mode

thank you for that answer but how can i boot in safe mode? yes i have XP so should i purposely turn comp off without shutting it down then it automatically goes to safe mode?? thank you, i'm not very computer savvy

press F8

Just before the Windows XP splash screen shown above appears, press the F8 key to enter the Windows Advanced Options Menu. there you will find an option to boot from safe mode

If you have USB

you can always goto ur friends house or if you have more then 1 PC you can download the program on the USB then run it on the PC that you forgot or lost the password to.
