For the most part, all of the major US carriers require data features on all smartphones. Are you certain you do not have an active data feature on your plan?
As per your second post in this forum, you do need an internet connection on the phone to use the Android Marketplace.
Hi Out There!
I'm a Newbie in most things, but this new Phone REALLY has me in a tizzy!
I use Windows7 on my HP G7 1270 Laptop.
I also use an itouch, for my musicand Photos, along with games and apps, for my Grandaughter.
I want to download some music and photos, not a lot, just some, and all of my Contacts, from my Laptop to my Phone.
I have spent all day on this, and am exhausted!
I DID figure out, loosely, how to get my phone onto wi-fi, but then got stuck.
I REALLY need:
Step-by-step instructions on this
Also, and I know this sounds really dumb, how do I know if my phone is still automatically connected to my Home wi-fi, or perhaps I disconnected it, when I turned it off?
I also think that it would be wise, if I have the manual, which I downloaded to my Laptop,
on my Phone.
I really don't want to "surf the net", with my Phone, so my Cellphone provider did not enable my phone for it, they said.
I really just want to use it, for calls,
hence the need to transfer all of my contacts,
and the occasional "mindless activity",
i.e. a few games and a few tunes otherwise that's it.
The rest of it, I have on my itouch.
I would really appreciate the Help!
Thanks so much!
