Well the pro cameras start at the $2500 range and up.
Cannon, Panasonic, JVC. Sony has some nice ones also. John
ok, so i have a fair bit of experience with shooting home video and short films, but i want to upgrade my cam, i will be using it to shoot home video, documentaries, and some ''guerilla'' type shoot and run stuff of my friends who like to do stunts and other not-so-legal idiotic activities.(which i don't participate in.) i will also be shooting a feature length film with a group of friends who i wrote a script with. i know that basically covers every type of video there is, which is why its so hard to choose.
i need a camera that has ''realistic'' looking picture for doco's, but it also has to have that surreal film look for the feature and shorts. it will also need to be pretty tough and not take hours to get a decent shot with(eg. i can turn it on, press record, and switch it off again, knowing i got clean footage without it being out of focus or over/under exposed) so i can film the stunts and stuff. i don't want a HD cam. budget is not really an issue, but lets keep it real, no $500,000 Arriflex iMAX cameras. it would need to be miniDV obviously.
