Help with MS office PLEASE!

by OgByron / December 29, 2008 9:10 AM PST

Ive been using microsoft office 2007 ultimate for about 3 months now and all of a sudden, it says:

<Microsoft (Program_name) has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application.>

I have read many other forums and have visited microsofts site <www.microsoft.com>, but i cant seem to get a real good explination of why and how to fix the problem. I think it is because i installed a new program(U3 software?, virtual PC's?); that doesnt let it work. Not sure. Many forums say i have to deal with the <regedit> command, and create a new (admin) account.

However, i cant seem to do it. I really need further explination/assistance.

I have
winXP pro
MS office 07 ultimate
thanks people

simply reinstall the application logged in as the current user (make it administrator temporarily, if it isn't).

Where, when and how is this error displaying?
by MarkFlax Forum moderator / December 29, 2008 9:14 PM PST

You posted in the PC Utilities forum here about your new U3 USB 16GB drive.

I am not sure how that would affect the running of Microsoft Office 2007. Have you been attempting to load Office 2007 onto the USB drive?

Is that USB drive still connected to the computer when you try to open Office 2007? if so, disconnect it.

Otherwise, tell us more about what happens. Remember, we can't see your computer so we rely on you to give us the full picture.

When does this message display, and what are you doing when it does?

What is the program (Program_name), it is trying to install?

Fixed it
by OgByron / December 30, 2008 2:31 PM PST

Untill now, i have no idea what it was. It said, as soon as i opened any microsoft office program:
i.e. Microsoft word has not been installed for the current user. Run setup again.

So I completely removed microsoft office 2007 ultimate. I deleted everything i could from installation folders to the registry. I used various uninstallers untlill i felt confident enough to reinstall

Then I ran setup again and it worked!

Thanks guys

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
