Help with MP3-based room sound system

Mar 14, 2006 11:25AM PST

I'm turning a bathroom into a spa room and would like in wall speakers, but not wireless, and a sound system based on an MP3 player. All I can find are iPod-like base units with built in speakers. What I want is a base unit/amplifier that has speaker out jacks to connect to a speaker jack on the wall and speakers in the ceiling. I would also like to be able to play a radio in stead of stored songs. Oh yeah, ideally it would also have a functional remote control.

I've found marine stereos that come pretty close and a couple of models of car stereo that have an MP3 in jack on the front, but I am also trying to avoid 12 volt car/boat systems.

Is there technology out there for this yet.
