Question

HELP with microdrive driver

I downloaded a microdriver driver from this site. I told it to run it asked where to unzip I told it it unzipped 1 file but I don't know what to do with the file. There are no instructions for an install. The file is called setup information it looks like a tablet with a gear in it. thanks for the help in advance

But I fear the details are still missing. As I read http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/drivers.htm I think these will work without any added driver on current versions of Windows.

But you have left out so many details that all I can ask is for you to ... keep writing.

If the device is found in the device(microdrive) listing under the device manager, hit the update button. You then point to where you have the file located and the update process will config with what is offered. Provided that is all it needs, but details are lacking for any reference.

again I'm sorry, I don't know the model # OS windows xp I checked to see if the microdrive was listed in device manager and it is not

I downloaded a file 4g2gmdrv.exe from CNET, ran it and it unzipped to a single file of size 1 kB, called 2G4GMDRV.inf

So if it's more or less the same with you, it's simple.
1. Go into Control Panel and run the new hardware wizard.
2. It will find nothing but it will ask you to browse to that inf-file to install that device.
3. Do that and OK.
