Question

Help with mic and audio (Astro A40)

I need help connecting my Astro A40 headphones to my computer or monitor. I have a standard cord on the A40s. The cord is to short to plug into my computer and when plugged into my monitor it does not produce sound and the mic does not work. Now this wouldn't be a problem as I could just move my computer closer right? Doesn't work as if I plug the headphones into the audio jack the mic doesn't work and if I plug it into the mic jack the audio doesn't work. I came up with the solution to buy this.

Is this the way to go or is there another solution.

Also my computer starts to randomly talk. Idk how it is happening. When I type it says every letter I type and since I type fast it is just rubbish and annoying. If I hover my mouse over something or click it will read what I am hovering over too or say what I click. It is super annoying and it is not Narrator, I have narrator turned off and I know it isn't Narrator.

Thank you for your time.
