help with inserting cd

Dec 27, 2003 3:53AM PST

hi, i have a ps2 game that i would like to put in my computer tray to rip some songs from it, but when i close the cd tray, it waits about 5 seconds and then shoots it back out? is this some type of copyright thing that sony has put on their cd's? or do i just need a dvd rom in order for my computer to read it?

You'll need a PS2 to play this.

It's a PS2 disk. And copy-protected.

It's designed to prevent what you asked. Forum policies forbid discussing this further.

While they look physically the same as a CD, PlayStation games are NOT the same thing as a CD or even a DVD. They use a different chemical coating on the recordable side and even special burning methods to prevent people from doing just what you're trying to do.

Trying to do this under Windows is going to be an act of frustration. You could probably do a binary dump under Linux and then find some program that would let you get at the data you wanted, but it just seems like too much work if you ask me. If you look hard enough, you can probably find the fruits of someone else's efforts for the same goal.
