I am wondering if the Object hides the Photo outside of it's bounds. If this is so then you can create a "Clipping Mask" which 'clips' or hides the outside information.
To make the "Clipping Mask" you would need to have both the object and the picture selected, with the picture in back and then using the menu bar :
'Object-> Clipping Mask -> Create' or you can just press Ctrl(+)7 on the PC or Command(+)7 on the MAC.
If this isn't what you want let's know.
ok so i know that this can be dine because i did it in an illustrator class i had a year ago but i am just now getting back into the whole illustrator thing. anyways i need to put a jpeg picture behind the bounds of an object ie a rounded edge rectangle. so that when i move the image around the only thing that will show is the object and the picture inside that object. if anyone has an answer or a link to something that could help me hit me a message at firstname.lastname@example.org thnks
