trying to hook up the cable box to tv and dvd vcr.
want to watch dvd and record a station on box?
I just bought an RCA RT230 home theater audio system to go with existing RCA TV (an older CRT Model F27689), DVD and VCR and CD deck. DVD and CD player work great.
But VCR mode feeds audio to both the home theater speakers and the TV speakers, so it doesn't sound very good. I could use the other remote to mute the TV, but that seems incovenient. Also, in TV mode, only the TV speakers work and the home theater remote won't control volume. This, too, requires a separate and inconvenient remote.
Is there some way to configure the connections to get the TV to use the home theater sound system directly? Thanks for any help.
One point: The manual doesn't indicate where to hook up the regular cable connection so I connected it to the VCR, with another cable to the TV. There is no cable connection on the RCA RT230. Not sure if this affects the above problems.
