help with fujitsu siemens notebook pc

by link / November 16, 2003 2:40 AM PST

i bought a fujitsu siemens amilo-d notebook PC about a month and a half ago and i am experiencing some problems with it already. I have got a DVD+RW drive which can also burn CD-Rs and CD-RWs but over the last two weeks all the drive has been able to do is read DVDs. It can't seem to burn anything (DVD-R & DVD-RW included) or even read CD-ROMs, it can't read the recovery disk for diagnostics of the system and basically do anything that involves tasks other than reading DVDs. This problem occured immediately after i installed real player onto my notebook and has remain so since. I've called the company and they have asked me to send it to them for any necessary repairs but i was wondering if there might be a quicker solution to it, thanks for your help.

You left out what OS? XP?
Then try System Restore back to before you installed Real Player.

Let us know if that solves the problem.

Use Restore CD's or what method they provide.

Does your DVD-RW for the Notebook comes in a removable drive bay?

If so try and remove it and reattach the drive in the Bay.

It could be not properly secured.

Thne try and uninstall form Add or Remove Program and reinstall the DVD-Burning S/W.

Let us know how it turns out.

I have had three faulty Amilio D notebooks, which were exchanged under guarantee and developed faults within one month. The present one was sent in for 'repair' and still had the same problems. The notebook has DVD Rom failure, the CD drive fails to install and the screen goes blank, losing information. I would recommend you get rid of it ASAP.

dvd/cd-rw problem
by FujiC2220A / November 8, 2005 1:02 AM PST

I bought a Fujitsu Lifebook C2220A October 2003.
The dvd/cd-rw would only read not write.
It told me that it did not recognize the media or
cd I had inserted into the cd drive.Replacement
of the drive was covered under the 1 year warranty.
I can now read and write cd's.
I have never yet tried a dvd.
But now the entire system is blanking out.
