help with downloading

Jan 4, 2008 3:58PM PST

i just bought a new toshiba satellite p205d-s7436. i am having problems downloading certain files. i can browse the internet with no problem but when i go to limewire, youtube or like myspaceim or aim, during the middle of the download it just freezes. i bought a new router and my other toshiba satellite had no problems with downloading anything. i'm not sure if this was a vista problem or what since my other computer had xp. so i decided to go to an internet hot spot and try to download the programs there and they went right through. i dont know if its the router, the connection or maybe some security issue. any suggestions would be helpful thanks!!

Vista downloading problems
Jan 4, 2008 7:33PM PST

I noticed that my Vista 64 is touchy on interference to connection.
If strength of signal drops a bit so does my download.

Got to the point that I download on external drive or USB memory stick on my XP and then load it on Vista 64.

Not sure if Vista 32 does the same.

Lose the router...
Jan 5, 2008 6:21AM PST

For a test, lose the router and connect your laptop directly to your modem via USB or ethernet cable. If the problem remains contact your ISP. Otherwise fill in the details about that new router you installed.

Let us know.
